Why clothing drives?
Our non-profit program is powered in many ways by this donation system. It's amazing what happens when that phone rings, and you simply say "yes" to a clothing donation.
What happens with my clothing donation?
Hundreds of program participants each year are outfitted with new wardrobes for their new life.
People from the community, in need of clothing are granted access to these clothes.
Local shelters receive donations from our collections.
The remaining balance of clothing, for which we do not have a direct use, is sold to thrift store partners generating financial income that subsidizes our program costs: housing, utilities, transportation, counseling, education, life skills-training, books, and much more.
Currently over $300,000 is produced for our programs annually through the clothing campaign.
Are you compliant with the FCC?
Yes! The FCC requires that we make a solicitation call no earlier than 8am and no later than 9pm.
"But I'm on the National Do-not-call List."
Non-profits are exempt from this list, however, we respect your wishes to not be called and will remove your contact number upon request.
Who are the personnel in your call center?
Most of the agents making these calls are our program clients. Coming from very dire places in life, these courageous folks are elevating themselves through personal responsibility by working and making their own way. This entry level job is a stepping stone into greater options of employment a few months later in the process. We do ask for your patience. In many cases, this is the first employment in a very long while, or maybe the only true job they have ever had. We spend time training and retraining, and most are excelling, but occasionally there is a miscue and the phone call is not handled as professionally as we would expect. We do record each call and are diligent with quality control. Thanks!
What are the reasons I should donate?
Donating your goods instead of throwing them away is an environmentally responsible choice….very eco-friendly.
You receive the tax benefit of making a donation to a 501(c)3 non-profit.
A good cause is supported with a real solution to ending domestic violence.
Employment is created for those needing a hand up.
You don't even have to bring it us, we will pick it up at your curb.
Are you registered with the Secretary of State?
From state to state, the regulations are different for churches. Some states require registration and others do not. Our programs are an outreach of our church community that originated in Georgia but is now expanding in North Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi, Florida, South Carolina. At this time only Georgia and Florida require churches to register.
The bottom line:
At a time in our country, when government programs are buckling under such high demand, Hope For Domestic Violence is solving social issues by building bridges between the private sector, the business community, and the faith community. We simply make a call, you say "yes" when you can and donate items you are not using anymore, we schedule a pickup, leave a donation receipt, and everyone experiences this miracle of changes lives in a win-win-win-win, situation. We concede that it is not perfect, and our dialing equipment may not behave as designed, or an agent occasionally misspeaks, we call at a less than convenient time, or a driver may miss an occasional pickup. But we are very good, improving our systems to achieve excellence and the overwhelming good created from it far outweighs the negative.
